Youth Project

 

Delivering an intercultural youth leaders programme to build the self-confidence, knowledge, analysis and leadership skills of young people living in asylum to engage proactively on the issues that affect their lives with policy makers, service providers and youth organisations and other young people.

Objectives

  • To deliver an intercultural youth leaders programme that promotes a positive sense of identity, diversity and promotes solidarity among young people living in direct provision and their peers in the local community
  • To engage young people in a youth leaders programme that is relevant to the issues affecting young people living in direct provision, reflecting on the issues facing young people living in asylum
  • To develop the knowledge, skills and analysis among young people living in direct provision on issues relevant to their lives to create the conditions for them to be in a position to take collective action on those issues
  • To provide young people with the opportunities to use the knowledge and skills they have gained in leadership through the programme in order to be a voice for and to represent their issues as young people in a range of fora
